The folding iPhone, the price of which leaked recently, should find itself in the spotlight next September. However, fans of classic smartphones will not be left behind. Barring any big surprises, Apple will indeed deliver the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at the start of the next school year. Photography enthusiasts will be delighted to learn that the telephoto lens of both models will surely be entitled to a significant improvement.
A larger aperture for the iPhone 18 Pro telephoto lens
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max would feature a notable development on the photo side: a larger aperture for their telephoto lens. The aperture is ƒ/2.8 on the iPhone 16 Pro.
This technological advancement would improve image quality in low-light environments. Furthermore, Apple would like to integrate a variable aperture into the 48 megapixel main camera of the iPhone 18 Pro. The user could therefore control the amount of light that passes through the camera lens and hits the sensor.
Unfortunately, these new features should only concern the iPhone 18 Pro. The standard iPhone 18, which would be released at the start of 2027, would be deprived of it. Same thing for the folding iPhone, by the way. The design of the device will already make it the most expensive iPhone in history. Apple probably doesn’t want that the bill becomes even steeper by adding these technologies on the photo side.

The Apple brand is not expected to revolutionize the design of its Pro models this year. The community should still be entitled to a brand new dark red color capable of making an impression like the Cosmic Orange of the Pros of 2025.
