On June 9, 2025, at its WWDC opening conference, Apple presented iOS 26 to the general public. This new version of the system takes over from iOS 18, released in 2024. Several major innovations are on the menu, including a drastic change in design and interface improvements for applications such as phone, camera or safari and photos.
Obviously, as for each major iOS update, the following question arises: Is my iPhone compatible?
You should know that at Apple, the iPhone can install up to 5 major iOS updates, rarely more. Sometimes some versions of iOS do not affect the iPhone compatibility list.

We remember that IOS 18 had kept the same compatible iPhone list as ios 17. On the other hand, iOS 17 had abandoned the 8, 8 Plus and X models. For iOS 26, it’s the turn of the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR to pass the weapon on the leftwithout too many surprises.
We hope that IOS 27 will be more forgiving with the oldest iPhone on this new list: the iPhone 11/11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, now on the hot seat.
