How to hide the names of your apps on iPhone?

iOS 18, released in 2024; has brought many new personalization features to the iPhone. Several of them concerned the home screen, this view which contains your apps pages and which possibly remains at the center of your activities on iPhone.

How to hide the names of my apps on the iPhone home screen?

To hide the names of the apps, you must first access the personalization options of the Home screen. For this, you have two possibilities:

1. Make a long support on an empty location of the home screen. The “Modify” option must appear at the top left

2. Make a long support on an app icon, then choose “Modify the Home screen”

Afterwards :

  • Press Edit> Customize

  • Everything will be played with the “small / large” choice

  • Choose “Big” to make the names of the applications disappear and see their icon size increase

To return to a normal state, choose “small” in this same screen.

Here is the result: on the right, the icons in “small” mode, on the left, the icons in “large” mode

Some points to know about this functionality:

  • It is a general setting, it affects all applications of the home screen and cannot be set independently for each application
  • The widgets of the home screen are also concerned
  • Apps library applications are also concerned

  • The applications seen in Spotlight are not affected, as are the widgets of the view “today”
