Just before the weekend, for once, Apple released iOS 26.2. This update offers some great new features, such as live translation for AirPods in EU countries, but also improvements for Podcasts, Freeform, Health, Liquid Glass, and even Notes and Reminders. Furthermore, the update does not only bring new features. It also fixes dozens of bugs, as detailed by our colleagues from 9to5Mac. Unfortunately, not all iPhones can take advantage of this. The update is only available for devices supporting iOS 26.
But all is not lost for owners of older iPhones. Indeed, alongside iOS 26.2, Apple has also deployed updates for older Macs, iPhones and iPads. Here is the detail:
- iOS/iPad 18.7.3: all iPhones and iPads that can install iOS/iPadOS 18 can now install iOS/iPadOS 18.7.3. This update fixes more than 20 security vulnerabilities and a good number of malfunctions
- macOS 15.7.3: for Apple computers that support macOS 15 (Sequoia), update 15.7.3 is there to also correct around thirty security vulnerabilities.
- macOS 14.8.3: finally, for machines remaining on macOS 14 (Sonoma), Apple offers macOS 14.8.3, delivered with twenty security fixes
Thus, devices such as the iPhone X, XS or even XS Max are concerned here, but also the iPad 7, iPad mini 4 or even iPad Pro 2nd generation. On the computer side, iMac Pro, Mac mini 2018, iMac 2019 and MacBook Pro 2018 and 2019 are for example targeted here.
If you have one of these older generation iPhones, iPads or Macs, don’t hesitate to see if an update is offered to you in the settings for protection purposes. If these updates do not bring new features, they have the merit of filling gaps sometimes significant security vulnerabilities.
