the never released update is shown in this prototype

Apple has taken the plunge. Last June, during the opening conference of its WWDC, the Cupertino company went from iOS 18 to iOS 26 on its iPhones. The operating system has changed numbering, adapting not to the number of versions already published, but rather to the year of use of the latter.

“iOS 26 will be mainly used in 2026, hence this new name”, Craig Federighi simply explained to the camera. For Apple this allowed all of its OS to use the same number for the same year, limiting confusion.

While you had to install iPadOS 18 on your tablet, iOS 18 on your iPhone, but macOS 15 and watchOS 11, things are simpler now. All Apple products run under OS “26”. To mark this desire for standardization of its range, Apple launched a new graphical interface Liquid Glass.

But a recent article from Apple insider lets you know what iOS could have looked like in a parallel world. That of iOS 19. The collector Kyolet has in fact got his hands on an iPhone prototype with a beta version of iOS 19. In this version, Liquid Glass does not yet exist. But the software is not uninteresting.

No products found.

Any clues about iOS 27?

By digging into its innards, Apple Insider journalists discovered a list of features. It corresponds to the features that Apple wanted to launch with iOS 26 (called iOS 19 in this version), but also iOS 20 (i.e. iOS 27 for us).

Several improvements concern accessibility, the Messages application and even Photos. A major update is expected on the Wallet application without the media telling us more at the moment. Proof that these features are not promises, “Workout Buddy” launched by Apple last June is one of the features mentioned in this list.

Would you have liked to navigate in this OS? Don’t hesitate to tell us in the comments.
