You can easily install iOS 26.1 on your iPhone provided you have a fairly recent smartphone. Apple is even increasingly strongly recommending that you do so, even if you’re attached to iOS 18 and worried about upgrading to Liquid Glass. Unfortunately, beyond aesthetic considerations, the transparency of this new graphical interface from Apple may have consequences more serious than expected.
Liquid Glass impossible to use for people with migraines?
Tealccart delivers a worrying testimony on the subreddit dedicated to iOS on Reddit. The user explains that he suffers from chronic migraines. He suddenly suffered a migraine attack just 10 minutes after installing iOS 26.1. Until now, the function allowing you to reduce the size of the white point on iPhone proved to be a lifesaver in cases of pain. This is no longer the case because of Liquid Glass.
“ In the new iOS there are all sorts of bright whites, flashes, newly bolded text and Liquid Glass is a nightmare for people like me. I spent about 6 hours playing with settings and doing research, which improved things, but it’s still not enough. I’ve sent an email to Apple’s accessibility department, but it’s never been successful in the past. On top of all this, white point reduction no longer works correctly on keyboard character preview in several apps (Messages, Notes, Safari) », writes Tealccart on Reddit.
This message sparked a wave of support from members of the Apple community. They join this suffering user to demand a reaction from the Cupertino company. “ As someone who also suffers from migraines, I completely understand. », even wrote another Reddit member.
