Apple is preparing big changes for this year 2026. If rumors agree that iOS 27 should be a “transitional” update without much new, this is not the case on the hardware side. Apple would have a revolutionary product in the pipeline: the iPhone Fold.
With the first folding smartphone in its history, Apple could catch up in this market, currently dominated head and shoulders by Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. To overshadow them, Apple has pulled out all the stops with an iPhone Fold that experts are eagerly awaiting.
An extraordinary iPhone
It must be said that the rumors surrounding this phone are simply exceptional. Several analysts are talking about a screen of incredible quality, a hinge that is as discreet as possible (without leaving the slightest trace of bending), but also, and this is what interests us today: a very large capacity battery.
It is the analyst Fixed Focus Digital who has just shared information on this subject in his latest post on the Chinese social network Weibo. He explains that batteries for folding phones today are 5,000 mAh at best. Apple would like to exceed these expectations with a 5,400 mAh to 5,800 mAh battery.
No products found.
For comparison, the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, one of the phones with the largest battery available, has a capacity of 5,088 mAh. It’s already much better than the Z Fold 7, Samsung’s latest folding phone, with its 4,400 mAh.
Obviously the battery capacity is not everything, you must combine this parameter with the efficiency of the phone to have good autonomy. But on this point Apple should pleasantly surprise us. The Cupertino company has always been very good in this area.

A release in September?
Experts and analysts from all walks of life expect to see the iPhone Fold arrive on the markets in the fall. During its traditional September keynote, Apple could eclipse the iPhone 18 for another, new model, the iPhone Fold. If all this information is still rumors, their number no longer really leaves any room for doubt.
