Apple has been releasing updates for several weeks. iOS 26.2 arrived on iPhone quite shortly after iOS 26.1. MacRumors recently revealed that another update, namely iOS 26.2.1, was in the pipeline. The media was right. The update launched by Apple on January 26 does not only provide bug and security fixes. It supports the new AirTag.

Apple has just released a series of updates: iOS 26.2.1, iPadOS 26.2.1 and watchOS 26.2.1. Updates are essential to take advantage of the second generation AirTag presented by Apple this January 26.
“ Precise Location on Apple Watch requires Apple Watch Series 9 (or later) or Apple Watch Ultra 2 (or later) with watchOS 26.2.1 », even specifies the apple brand. You should also install these updates to better protect your devices since they include security patches.
The second generation AirTag just unveiled by the American company is distinguished by its Up to 1.5x greater range for precise localization. The new Ultra Wideband chip allows you to know the position of the tracker with more precision. The AirTag 2 also includes “ a 50% more powerful speaker that delivers sound heard twice as far ”, according to Apple.

The accessory is available for pre-order at a price of €35 per unit and €119 for a pack of four (the prices are the same as for the previous model). The AirTag will arrive in stores this Friday, January 30, the day the first orders placed online are received. This is just the first product in a very long list of devices planned by Apple in 2026.
