The subscription app monetization model is proving increasingly popular with developers. Additionally, the subscription process is made very easy for the user! The other side of the coin is that you can sometimes find yourself subscribed to a lot of apps and services, some of which are more really useful, or others that you might have even forgotten existed on your iPhone or iPad. This can be even more the case if you do not regularly check which subscriptions are in progress in your App Store account.
We must therefore remember to carry out a small check at this level from time to time to take the necessary measures and stop any subscription which would no longer be useful to us, or reactivate another if necessary.
So, in our series of practical files, we will see how to consult the list of your current subscriptions, to stop them, but also to reactivate themwhether on iPhone or iPad.
Little pocketphotography.com tip before you start: it may be interesting to remember each month to check the current subscriptions linked to your iTunes account. For this, nothing could be simpler, we recommend the most direct technique, the following Siri request:
No products found.
“Hey Siri, create a monthly reminder for my App Store subscriptions”
This can be a good help so as not to miss the boat and avoid being billed for an extra month of subscription to an app that is gathering dust.
Check the last use date of an application
Before wanting to deactivate a subscription for an app or service installed on the iPhone, it may be interesting to see if it is really worth it. iOS can then help in this sense, thanks to its system function which shows the last dates of use of apps. So, if for example you have not opened the Bear app (available here on the App Store), for 3 months, and for which a subscription is paid each month, unsubscribing can be calmly considered.
To see the latest usage dates for your apps:
- Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage

- Click on “Size” on the right and choose “Date of last use”

- You now see apps sorted by their recent usage from most recently used to least recently used
We can then easily check when we opened the last time Netflix, 1Password or other app to which you subscribe.
How to unsubscribe from an iOS app
- Launch the App Store app on iPhone or iPad and tap the profile icon at the top right of the screen
- Or launch the Settings app and tap the profile icon at the top

Tapping on a subscription allows you to stop it, but also to change the plan for a more or less long/expensive duration, to resubscribe or to see additional information.
You are ready to make savings !
How many current subscriptions do you have? Do you think you will stop some of them?
