How iOS 26.2 will improve these 5 Apple apps

Updated December 13, 2025; iOS 26.2 is available for everyone. Our complete iOS 26.2 guide can be found here.

Apple is preparing a major update of its iPhone operating system for the month of December. The Cupertino company should unveil iOS 26.2 before the holidays. This update to iOS 26, presented during the last edition of WWDC in June 2025, will focus in particular on these 5 native Apple applications.

Recalls are inevitable

First application which will see its operation change (slightly) these Reminders. Apple’s app has for years allowed users to write down things, like a shopping list or work tasks.

Your lists in Reminders can be classified through customizable themes and it is possible to trigger a notification to receive a reminder at a specific date and time. But with iOS 26.2 Apple wants to go further on this point in particular.

No products found.

The apple brand will offer users an alarm (like the one that wakes you up in the morning) linked to your reminder. It’s impossible to ignore this alert and forget what you have to do. Obviously, the user is the only one on board, it is up to him to decide whether he wants to use this functionality or not.

Podcasts Get Smarter

Another application developed by Apple which should benefit from the arrival of iOS 26.2: Podcasts. Apple’s service will be enriched with three new features. The first will allow you to create chapters automatically within an episode.

A second will focus on mentions made by the creators of the podcast which refer to other episodes. A feature very similar to the little “i” available in the upper right corner of a YouTube video.

Finally, the last feature added to Podcasts, the possibility of providing additional sources and information. By downloading a podcast, the creator of the podcast will be able to add a fact sheet with its sources and other key information to better understand the podcast. This data will be readily available to the user while listening.

Freeform gets closer to Excel

The Freeform app is not Apple’s most well-known service, although it deserves to be so. Perfect for group work or for creating mind maps, Freeform has a new feature with iOS 26.2.

The application available on iPhone, iPad and Mac will now be able to construct tables. The objective for Apple is to make this service more intelligent and open to less creative uses.

Apple Games on the controller

For lovers of mobile games, Apple Games has become a real reference. Apple’s free library (added with iOS 26) has three new features. Firstly, users will be able to sort a list of games by size, to download small, light games or concentrate on more advanced and inevitably heavier products.

Another change made by Apple Games is the possibility of connecting a controller to your iPhone. It will thus be possible to enjoy several mobile games with the maneuverability offered by a controller.

Finally, Apple is reviewing its various “challenges”. The company will update them in real time to be closer to the player’s experience.

Apple Music, even offline

Finally, the last application that we wanted to highlight in this article, Apple Music. Apple’s music streaming service will have a new feature with iOS 26.2, requested for years by fine songwriters.

It will now be possible to read the lyrics of a song even with your iPhone offline. An important change for users who will be able to do the test as soon as iOS 26.2 is installed with the music already downloaded in their library.
