Updated March 24, 2026: iOS 26.4 is available, here we explain everything you need to know about the update for iPhone
The most curious among you can download the second developer beta of iOS 26.4. This is the opportunity to discover the new features planned by Apple before the others. End-to-end encryption of RCS messages between iPhone and Android, for example. This second beta also allows us to see the activation of 5G calls with two historic French operators: SFR and Bouygues Telecom. The Altice subsidiary even has another nice surprise for iPhone owners.
5G calls available at SFR and Bouygues Telecom thanks to iOS 26.4
iOS 26.4 allows SFR and Bouygues Telecom customers to use VoNR technology so that their calls pass through 5G antennas. This new feature will affect the sound quality during your voice communications. Your voice will sound more natural and connection time will be shortened.
During a 5G call, you can even continue to play high-resolution videos or play online without problems and with satisfactory energy efficiency. Until now, 5G calls were only available from Free and Orange. SFR and Bouygues are thus catching up with their competitors.

SFR does not stop there since it also activates the support for 5G+ (5G SA) on iPhone. This network uses specific infrastructures and not those also dedicated to 4G. This “real” 5G therefore offers much better speeds and significantly reduced latency. SFR lagged behind Free, Orange and Bouygues Telecom which already support 5G+ on iPhone.
These simple but nonetheless important improvements alone almost justify upgrading to iOS 26.4. The final version of the update is expected to launch at the end of March.
