Apple’s financial results reveal isn’t always the most interesting meeting ever. But on rare occasions, Apple reveals figures on the development of its activity. At the start of 2026, Apple has declared that it has exceeded the mark of 2.5 billion active devices worldwide. A puzzling number, even for a sprawling company like Apple.
Last year Apple had already shared, more or less at the same time, its number of active devices in the world. There were 2.35 billion. This means that over the last 12 months, the Cupertino company has seen growth of around 150 million active devices.
The iPhone remains the big winner
If the growth of Apple devices is driven by several products, the iPhone remains Apple’s locomotive. Even Tim Cook seems surprised by this enthusiasm. “The demand for iPhone this quarter was simply astounding”he confided in a conference call with investors.
New market services for Apple
This figure shows that Apple has now conquered the overwhelming majority of the planet. There are few people who do not own an Apple product. And when this is the case, it is not through ignorance, but through consumer desire or accessibility issues (the price of an iPhone, iPad or Mac remains a real barrier to entry).
No products found.
But fortunately for Apple, the apple has managed to reinvent itself in recent years to find other sources of income. Simply selling physical devices is no longer enough. Apple offers services. This software, often available by subscription, is a real financial windfall.
With more than 2.5 billion active devices worldwide, millions of users can become customers of Apple Music, Arcade, iCloud+, Apple TV or even Fitness+, News+ and other services that are now more confidential.
